Hi, I'm Larissa.
I'm a Melbourne mum, I homeschool my two daughters, and I have a bit of a thing for how the human body actually works. So when it came to potty training, something never sat right with me. It didn't make sense that nature would leave babies out of the loop on this one.
My eldest was on the potty from 8 months. When my second came along, we started at just 8 weeks, and both of my girls were out of nappies overnight by the age of two. Once I started talking to other mums, I realised how unusual that sounded. But here's the thing: babies are born knowing they'd rather not sit in their own mess. Somewhere along the way, we started training them into nappies instead.
That sent me down a bit of a rabbit hole, and out the other side came two things: my ebook, Clean Bums & Happy Mums, and my life's work, the Potty Plane™. I couldn't find a single potty made for a tiny newborn, so I designed one. It's an Australian-made, patent pending potty that rests on your legs and makes elimination communication feel easy from the very first week.
In 2026, the Potty Plane™ was honoured with a Good Design Award® Gold. It still feels a little surreal that a potty I sketched at my kitchen table has been recognised that way.
Australia's Good Design Awards are one of the country's oldest and most respected design honours, judged by an independent panel of design and industry experts. Gold is the top tier, given only to projects that show real design excellence and innovation. In 2026, the Potty Plane™ won Gold, recognised for rethinking newborn care with a genuinely original Australian design.
Bimbi Bums isn't about doing it perfectly, or having it all together. It's about less waste, more connection, and parenting on your own terms. Fewer nappies in landfill, fewer dollars down the drain, and a lovely closeness with your baby that you didn't know you were missing.
I'd love to help you have the same wins I've had.
With you in solidarity to stop wiping crap,
Larissa xx
