Part-time EC: for parents who can't be home all day
Share
One of the biggest myths about elimination communication is that it's all or nothing, that you have to be home all day, watching for every cue, catching every wee. You don't. Part-time EC is not only allowed, it's how a lot of busy families actually do it.
What part-time EC looks like
It might be one or two potty offers a day. Right after the morning nap. Before bath time. Whenever you happen to be home and have a spare minute. The rest of the time, your baby wears a nappy as usual. There's no rule that says you have to do more.
Does it still work?
Yes. Every offer that lands is a nappy you didn't use, and, more importantly, it keeps the line of communication open. Your baby learns that the potty is an option, and you stay tuned in to their signals. Progress, not perfection, is the whole point.
Making it easy on yourself
Pick predictable moments so you're not on high alert. Keep a Potty Plane somewhere handy so offering takes ten seconds. And let go of any guilt about the offers you miss, they genuinely don't matter.
Part-time EC is real EC. Do what fits your life, and let that be enough.
